Method

Chicken Teriyaki

  1. 1

    Prepare the Chicken

Cut the chicken thighs into bite-sized pieces.

  2. 2

    Make the Teriyaki Sauce

In a saucepan, combine soy sauce, mirin, sugar, sesame oil, cornstarch, and water. Bring to a simmer while stirring until the sauce thickens.

  3. 3

    Cook the Chicken

In a skillet over medium heat, add the chicken and cook until browned. Pour the teriyaki sauce over the chicken and cook for another 5 minutes until the chicken is coated and cooked through.

  4. 4

    Garnish

Sprinkle sesame seeds and chopped green onions over the teriyaki chicken before serving.

Tonkatsu

  1. 5

    Prepare the Pork

Season the pork loin with salt and black pepper.

  2. 6

    Bread the Pork

Dredge the pork in flour, dip it in beaten eggs, and then coat it with panko breadcrumbs.

  3. 7

    Fry the Tonkatsu

In a deep skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Fry the pork until golden brown and cooked through, about 4-5 minutes per side. Remove and let drain on paper towels.

Salad

  1. 8

    Assemble the Salad

In a large bowl, combine mixed greens, cucumber, cherry tomatoes, and shredded carrots.

  2. 9

    Dress the Salad

Drizzle sesame dressing over the salad and toss to combine.

Rice

  1. 10

    Rinse the Rice

Rinse the jasmine rice under cold water until the water runs clear.

  2. 11

    Cook the Rice

In a medium pot, combine rinsed rice and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes until water is absorbed.

Miso Soup

  1. 12

    Prepare the Broth

In a pot, bring water to a boil.

  2. 13

    Mix in Miso

Dissolve miso paste in a small bowl with a bit of warm water, then add to the boiling water.

  3. 14

    Add Tofu and Seaweed

Add cubed tofu and dried seaweed to the pot. Simmer for 5 minutes.

  4. 15

    Garnish and Serve

Sprinkle sliced green onions over the soup before serving.
