Method

Preparing the Meat

  1. 1

    Slice the Beef and Chicken

Cut the beef sirloin and chicken breast into thin strips, about 1 inch wide.

  2. 2

    Marinate the Meat

In a bowl, combine the sliced beef and chicken with half of the teriyaki sauce (prepared in the next section). Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes.

Making the Teriyaki Sauce

  1. 3

    Combine Ingredients

In a saucepan, mix together the soy sauce, brown sugar, mirin, sesame oil, minced garlic, and grated ginger.

  2. 4

    Simmer the Sauce

Heat the mixture over medium heat until it begins to simmer. Stir until the sugar has dissolved. Remove from heat and let cool.

Cooking the Meat

  1. 5

    Cook the Beef

In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add a little oil and cook the marinated beef for about 5-7 minutes or until cooked through. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

  2. 6

    Cook the Chicken

In the same skillet, add a little more oil if needed and cook the marinated chicken for about 5-7 minutes or until cooked through. Remove and set aside.

  3. 7

    Add Sauce to Meat

Return the cooked beef and chicken to the skillet and add the remaining teriyaki sauce. Stir well to coat and heat through for an additional 2-3 minutes.

Preparing the Sides

  1. 8

    Prepare the Rice

If not already cooked, prepare the white rice according to package instructions.

  2. 9

    Prepare the Salad

Toss mixed greens in a bowl and serve with your choice of dressing.

  3. 10

    Make Miso Soup

In a pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Stir in miso paste until fully dissolved. Simmer for 5 minutes.

Serving

  1. 11

    Plate the Dish

On each plate, serve a portion of beef teriyaki and chicken teriyaki alongside the cooked rice, salad, and a bowl of miso soup.
