Tea Base

Optional Brighteners & Garnish

Method

Brew the Tea

1

Boil water

Pour 8 cups of cold, filtered water into a kettle or saucepan and bring to a rolling boil.

2

Steep tea

Remove from heat. Add 6 black tea bags (or equivalent loose tea in an infuser). Let steep for 4 to 6 minutes depending on desired strength (4 minutes for lighter, 6 minutes for robust). Avoid oversteeping to prevent bitterness.

3

Remove tea

Take out the tea bags or remove the infuser. Do not squeeze the bags aggressively — gently press once against the side to release a little liquid if needed.

Cool & Chill

4

Allow the brewed tea to cool at room temperature for about 20 to 30 minutes, then transfer to a pitcher. Place the pitcher uncovered in the refrigerator and chill until cold, at least 1 hour. For faster chilling, fill the pitcher with an ice bath (bowl of ice and water) and stir occasionally for 15–20 minutes before refrigerating.

Serve

5

Fill glasses with ice (about 1 cup ice per 8‑oz glass). Pour chilled tea over the ice.

6

Optional: Garnish with a slice of fresh lemon or a sprig of mint. Serve immediately.
