Kombucha Ginger Ingredients
Method
Kombucha Ginger Directions
Prepare Sweet Tea
Boil 4 cups of water and dissolve 1 cup of sugar in it. Once dissolved, add the tea bags and steep for about 15 minutes. Remove the tea bags and let the sweet tea cool to room temperature.
Add Ginger
Add the sliced ginger to the jar. If you want a stronger ginger flavor, you can add more ginger to taste.
Fermentation
Cover the jar with a breathable cloth or coffee filter secured with a rubber band. Allow it to ferment in a warm, dark place for 7 to 14 days, depending on your taste preference.
Bottling
After the fermentation period, carefully remove the SCOBY and set aside. Strain the kombucha to remove the ginger slices and any sediment. Bottle the kombucha in airtight bottles, leaving about an inch of headspace.
Second Fermentation (Optional)
If you want a fizzy drink, you can allow the bottled kombucha to ferment for an additional 3 to 7 days at room temperature before refrigerating.
Serve
Chill the kombucha in the refrigerator before serving. Enjoy your homemade Kombucha Ginger!
