Measure and combine
Chill an Old Fashioned glass by filling with ice or placing in the freezer briefly. In a mixing glass, combine 1.5 oz Italian amaro, 1.0 oz aged rum, 0.5 oz sweet vermouth, 0.25 oz orange liqueur, 0.5 oz fresh lemon juice, 0.25 oz demerara syrup, 2 dashes Angostura bitters, and 1 dash orange bitters.

Prepare serving glass
Discard the chilling ice from the Old Fashioned glass. Place one large clear ice cube in the glass.

Double-strain the stirred cocktail into the chilled Old Fashioned glass over the large ice cube using a Hawthorne strainer and, if desired, a fine mesh strainer to catch small shards.
