Nashville Sweet Heat Catfish

Method

Preparation and Cooking

  1. 1

    Marinate the Catfish

In a large bowl, mix buttermilk and hot sauce. Add catfish fillets and let them marinate for at least 30 minutes in the refrigerator.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Coating

In another bowl, combine cornmeal, flour, cayenne pepper, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.

  3. 3

    Coat the Catfish

Remove catfish from the buttermilk mixture and let excess drip off. Dredge each fillet in the cornmeal mixture until fully coated.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  5. 5

    Fry the Catfish

Carefully place the coated catfish fillets into the hot oil. Fry for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and let drain on paper towels.

  6. 6

    Serve

Serve the Nashville Sweet Heat Catfish hot with seasoned fries on the side.
