Pint (single-serving beer-style cocktail)

Method

Pint (single-serving beer-style cocktail)

1

Chill glass

Place a clean pint glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes or fill it with ice water while you prepare other ingredients to ensure the pint stays cold.

2

Optional: prepare shandy mix

If making a shandy-style pint, combine the fresh lemon juice and simple syrup in a small mixing glass and stir briefly to combine. Adjust sweetness to taste.

3

Optional: add spirit

If you want a stronger pint, pour 1 oz gin or vodka into the chilled pint glass. Swirl gently to coat the glass and integrate the spirit.

4

Add ice (optional)

If you prefer an extra-cold pint or are making a beer cocktail, add 3–4 ice cubes to the glass. Note: adding ice will dilute the beer as it melts, changing carbonation and flavor.

5

Pour the beer

Hold the chilled pint glass at a 45-degree angle and slowly pour the beer down the side until the glass is about three-quarters full. Straighten the glass and finish pouring down the middle to create a moderate head (about 1/2–1 inch).

6

Add shandy mixer (if using)

If you prepared the lemon-simple syrup mix, gently pour it into the beer. Stir once gently with a bar spoon or a long spoon to incorporate—do not stir vigorously to preserve carbonation.

7

Garnish and serve

Garnish with a lemon wedge or wheel on the rim if desired. Serve immediately while fizzy and cold.
