Method
Preparation
Making the Cake Batter
Melt Chocolate and Butter
In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the unsalted butter and semisweet chocolate. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring after each, until melted and smooth.
Mix in Sugar
Stir in the granulated sugar into the melted chocolate mixture until well combined.
Add Eggs
Whisk in the large eggs and egg yolks one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
Incorporate Flour and Vanilla
Gently fold in the all-purpose flour and vanilla extract until just combined. Do not overmix.
Baking
Fill Ramekins
Divide the batter evenly among the prepared ramekins, filling them about 3/4 full.
Bake
Place the ramekins on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 12-14 minutes, or until the edges are firm but the center is soft.
Cool Slightly
Remove the ramekins from the oven and let them cool for 1 minute.
Serving
Unmold the Cakes
Carefully run a knife around the edges of each ramekin to loosen the cake. Invert onto serving plates.
Add Ice Cream
Serve immediately with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top or on the side.
