Method
Toast
Brush both sides of each ciabatta slice lightly with the extra-virgin olive oil. If using, spread a thin layer of the unsalted butter on one side for extra flavor.
Place the slices in the hot skillet or under the broiler/toaster oven and toast 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown and crisp at the edges. Remove and set aside to cool slightly.
Avocado Mash
Halve the avocado, remove the pit and scoop the flesh into a medium bowl.
Add the fresh lime juice, kosher salt, and freshly ground black pepper to the avocado.
Using a fork, mash the avocado to your desired texture — mostly smooth with a few small chunks or chunkier if preferred. Taste and adjust seasoning: add more salt or lime juice as needed. Stir in red pepper flakes if using.
Assembly & Garnish
Divide the mashed avocado evenly between the toasted ciabatta slices, spreading to cover the surface.
Sprinkle a pinch of flaky sea salt on each slice if using, and finish with microgreens or chopped cilantro for freshness.
Serve immediately with the fresh lime wedge on the side for extra brightness; squeeze lime over the toast just before eating.
