Cocktail
Garnish & Rim
To Make Strawberry-Infused Vodka (if not using pre-made)
Method
To Make Strawberry-Infused Vodka (optional, 24-48 hours)
Store jar at room temperature or refrigerated for 24–48 hours, tasting after 24 hours. When vodka has a pronounced strawberry aroma and color you like, strain out solids through a fine-mesh sieve or coffee filter into a clean bottle. Discard berries. Chill infused vodka before using.
Rim & Garnish
Place 1 tbsp granulated sugar on a small plate. Rub the lime wedge around the outside edge of a chilled martini glass (or coupe) to moisten the rim.
Slice the fresh strawberry about three quarters of the way through (for a garnish slit) and refrigerate until serving.
Cocktail Preparation
Add 6 ice cubes to a cocktail shaker to chill and dilute the drink properly.
Pour in 3 oz chilled strawberry-infused vodka, 1 oz cranberry juice, 0.5 oz fresh lime juice, and 0.5 oz simple syrup into the shaker.
Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker is very cold and slightly frosted. This both chills and lightly dilutes the cocktail.
Double-strain the mixture into the prepared sugar-rimmed martini glass to remove ice shards (use a Hawthorne strainer and a fine mesh strainer if available).
Garnish the rim with the sliced fresh strawberry. Optionally, express a lime twist over the drink and discard.
Serve immediately.
