Juice Base

Method

Juice Base

  1. 1

    Prep ingredients

Wash the turmeric root thoroughly and peel with a spoon or small knife. Peel and core the pineapple, then chop into small chunks to make blending easier. Roll the lemon on the counter and cut in half; juice until you have about 2 tablespoons of lemon juice.

  2. 2

    Blend

Place the pineapple chunks, chopped ʻōlena (turmeric), lemon juice, and 2 tablespoons cold water into a small high-speed blender or personal blender. Blend on high for 30–45 seconds until the mixture is very smooth and liquid.

  3. 3

    Strain (optional)

If you want a smooth shot with minimal pulp, pour the blended mixture through a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a small bowl, pressing with a spoon to extract as much liquid as possible. If you prefer whole-food texture, skip this step.

Finishing & Serving

  1. 4

    Season and sweeten

Transfer the strained or unstrained juice into a small measuring cup or shot glass. Stir in freshly ground black pepper (about 1 teaspoon) — the piperine in black pepper increases curcumin absorption from turmeric. If desired, add up to 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup and stir until dissolved.

  2. 5

    Chill and serve

If you like your shot cold, add 1–2 ice cubes to the shot glass for 10–15 seconds to chill, then discard the ice before drinking or let it melt slightly. Serve immediately as a concentrated health shot (about 2–3 ounces).

  3. 6

    Storage

Any leftover juice can be stored in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to 48 hours. Shake or stir before using and note that flavor and potency decline with time.
