Glass & Rim

Method

Glass & Rim

  1. 1

Pour the celery salt and optional coarse salt onto a small shallow plate and mix to combine. Use enough plate surface to comfortably rim your glass.

  2. 2

Rub the lime wedge around the outer rim of a highball or pint glass (the inner lip and outer edge) to moisten—this helps the celery salt adhere.

  3. 3

Invert the glass and press the moistened rim into the celery-salt mixture, rotating to coat evenly. Tap gently to remove excess. Set the glass aside.

Cocktail

  1. 4

    Build and Season

Fill a cocktail shaker or stirring glass with ice (about 1 cup). Add the vodka, tomato juice, fresh lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco, and prepared horseradish if using. Add two grinds of freshly ground black pepper.

  2. 5

    Mix

Stir the mixture for 15–20 seconds until well chilled and slightly diluted. If you prefer a bit more aeration, give it a gentle roll or brief shake (10 seconds) — shaking will produce a slightly frothier texture.

  3. 6

    Assemble

Fill the rimmed glass with fresh ice. Strain the mixed cocktail into the prepared glass over the ice.

  4. 7

    Garnish and Adjust

Garnish with a celery stalk. Taste and adjust seasoning: add another dash of Tabasco for heat or a small squeeze of lemon if you prefer brighter acidity.

  5. 8

Serve immediately with a stirrer or straw and a small napkin for the rim. Enjoy chilled.
