Method
Prepare the Scallops
Batter the Scallops
Prepare the Breading Station
Set up a breading station with three shallow dishes: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with breadcrumbs mixed with a pinch of salt.
Batter the Scallops
Dip each seasoned scallop first in the flour, shaking off any excess, then into the beaten eggs, and finally coat with breadcrumbs. Ensure each scallop is evenly coated.
Fry the Scallops
Heat the Oil
In a deep frying pan or a large pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
Drain the Scallops
Once fried, remove the scallops using a slotted spoon and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil.
Prepare the Fries (optional)
Cook the Fries
If using frozen French fries, prepare them according to package instructions, typically by baking or frying until golden and crispy.
Serve
Plate the Dish
Arrange the fried scallops on a serving platter. Serve with cocktail sauce and tartar sauce on the side. If prepared, add the fries alongside.
Enjoy!
