Cocktail

Method

Cocktail

  1. 1

    Chill glass

Place a chilled martini/coupe glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes or fill it with ice water while you prepare the cocktail to ensure the drink stays cold.

  2. 2

    Combine ingredients

In a cocktail shaker, add 2 oz Grey Goose La Poire, 0.75 oz triple sec, 1 oz cranberry juice, 0.5 oz fresh lime juice and 0.25 oz simple syrup (if using).

  3. 3

    Add ice and shake

Fill the shaker with ice (about 1 cup). Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker is very cold and well-chilled.

  4. 4

    Prepare glass

If you used ice water to chill the glass, discard the ice/water now. Optionally, rub a lime wedge around the rim for extra aroma.

  5. 5

    Double strain and serve

Double strain the cocktail into the chilled martini or coupe glass using both the shaker strainer and a fine mesh strainer to remove ice shards for a smooth texture.

  6. 6

    Garnish

Garnish with a thin pear slice on the rim or floated in the drink and/or a lime twist for aroma. Serve immediately.

  7. 7

    Taste adjustment

If the cocktail tastes too tart, add an additional 0.25 oz simple syrup and briefly stir; if too sweet, squeeze a few drops more fresh lime juice and stir gently.
