Cocktail

Method

Cocktail

  1. 1

    Prepare and shake

Add 2 oz blanco tequila, 1 oz blood orange purée, 1 oz Cointreau (or triple sec), 0.75 oz fresh lime juice, and 0.5 oz simple syrup into a cocktail shaker. Fill the shaker with ice (about 1 cup). Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds, until the exterior of the shaker is cold and slightly frosted.

  2. 2

    Strain

If serving 'on the rocks': Fill a rocks glass with fresh ice and double-strain the cocktail over the ice using a Hawthorne or fine mesh strainer to remove pulp and small ice chips. If serving 'up' (no ice): double-strain into a chilled coupe or margarita glass.

Garnish & Rim

  1. 3

Rim the glass: Run a lime wedge around the rim of the glass, then dip the rim into a shallow plate with kosher salt or tajín to coat evenly (use about 1 tsp for one glass).

  2. 4

Finish and serve: Garnish the cocktail with a blood orange wheel or wedge on the rim. Serve immediately.
