Cosmo Cocktail

Method

Cosmo Cocktail

1

Chill a cocktail (martini) glass by placing it in the freezer for a few minutes or filling it with ice water while you prepare the drink.

2

Measure & Combine

Add 2 fl oz vodka, 1 fl oz triple sec (Cointreau), 0.5 fl oz fresh lime juice, 1 fl oz cranberry juice, and 0.25 fl oz simple syrup (if using) into a cocktail shaker.

3

Add Ice

Fill the shaker with ice (about 1 cup) to properly chill and dilute the drink.

4

Shake

Secure the shaker and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds (until the outside of the shaker is very cold). This ensures proper chilling and slight dilution for balance.

5

Prepare Glass

Discard ice or water from the chilled cocktail glass and, if desired, run a citrus peel (orange or lime) around the rim to add a light aroma.

6

Strain

Double strain the cocktail into the chilled glass using a Hawthorne strainer and a fine mesh strainer (or just a Hawthorne if fine strainer not available) to remove ice shards.

7

Garnish

Express the oils of an orange or lime twist over the drink by holding the twist skin-side down over the glass and giving it a quick squeeze, then drop the twist into the cocktail as garnish.

8

Serve immediately. Adjust sweetness by increasing or omitting the simple syrup to taste in future pours.
