Margarita Mix

Method

Make Margarita Mix

1

Juice and combine

Roll and halve fresh limes and juice until you have 1 cup of juice (about 6–8 limes). Strain juice through a fine mesh into a measuring cup to remove pulp and seeds.

2

Add liqueur and sweetener

In a jar or small pitcher, combine 1 cup fresh lime juice, 1/2 cup triple sec, and 1/4 cup simple syrup. Stir or shake vigorously to combine. Taste and adjust: if you prefer tarter, add up to 2 tablespoons more lime juice; if you prefer sweeter, add up to 2 tablespoons more simple syrup.

3

Chill (optional)

Refrigerate the mix for at least 15 minutes if making ahead. Stored in an airtight container, this mix keeps 2–3 days refrigerated.

Rimming & Assembling (per serving)

4

Prepare glass

Pour 1 teaspoon coarse salt onto a small plate. Rub the rim of a rocks or coupe glass with a lime wedge, then dip the rim into the salt to coat. Set glass aside.

5

Build the cocktail

Fill a cocktail shaker with a handful of ice (about 1 cup). Add 2 oz Jose Cuervo Tradicional® Blanco tequila and 2 oz prepared margarita mix. Add additional ice if needed to nearly fill the shaker.

6

Shake and strain

Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker is very cold and slightly frosted. Strain the cocktail into the prepared glass over fresh ice if desired (on the rocks) or without ice (served straight up).

7

Garnish & serve

Garnish with a lime wheel or wedge on the rim. Serve immediately.
