Crispy Smoked Octopus Ingredients

Method

Crispy Smoked Octopus Directions

1

Prepare the Octopus

In a large pot, fill with water and bring to a boil. Add the octopus and simmer for about 45 minutes until tender. Remove from water and let cool.

2

Marinate and Smoke

Once cooled, cut the octopus into manageable pieces. In a bowl, combine olive oil, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Coat the octopus pieces in the marinade and let sit for at least 30 minutes. If you have a smoker, smoke the octopus for about 30-45 minutes at a low temperature.

3

Crisp the Octopus

Heat a grill or skillet over high heat. Sear the marinated octopus pieces for about 2-3 minutes on each side until crispy and charred.

4

Prepare the Salad

In a large bowl, combine arugula, shaved fennel, taggiasca olives, and orange segments.

5

Serve

Plate the arugula and fennel salad, top with crispy octopus, and drizzle with Calabrian chili aioli. Serve immediately.
