Method

Preparation

1

Chill glass

Place a highball or Collins glass in the freezer for a few minutes or fill it with ice water while you prepare the cocktail so it stays cold.

2

If your maple syrup is thick or cold, warm it slightly (10–15 seconds in the microwave) or stir until pourable so it mixes evenly.

Shaking

3

Combine spirits and mixers

Add the Captain Morgan Spiced Rum (1 oz), Smirnoff Vodka (1 oz), Gordon's Gin (1 oz), old-fashioned lemonade (2 oz) and warmed maple syrup (0.5 tbs) into a cocktail shaker.

4

Add ice and shake

Fill the shaker with ice (enough to two-thirds full) and shake vigorously for 10–12 seconds until the shaker is well chilled and slightly frosted. Shaking helps the thicker maple syrup incorporate with the citrus in the lemonade.

Build & finish

5

Remove the chilled glass from the freezer or discard the ice water. Fill the glass with fresh cubed ice (about 1 cup).

6

Double-strain or strain the contents of the shaker into the prepared glass over the fresh ice.

7

Top the drink gently with chilled cola (2 oz). Pour slowly over the back of a spoon if you want a bit of layered look; otherwise pour directly and give the drink one gentle stir (1–2 rotations) to integrate.

8

Garnish with a fresh lemon wedge or wheel on the rim. Serve with a straw and a small stirrer.
