Smoothie Base

Method

Soak & Prep

1

Soak goji berries

Place the 1 tablespoon dried goji berries in a small bowl and cover with 2 tablespoons warm water. Let soak for 5–10 minutes to rehydrate and soften, then drain any excess liquid. Reserving the soak liquid is optional to add back for extra flavor.

2

If you are using a fresh banana, peel, slice and freeze ahead of time. If using pre-frozen banana, measure 1 cup (about one medium banana sliced).

Blend

3

Combine ingredients

Add the soaked goji berries (and optional soak liquid if desired), 1 cup frozen banana, 1 cup Greek yogurt, 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder, 3 tablespoons almond milk, 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract to a high-speed blender. If using protein powder or chia/flax, add now.

4

Add ice if needed

If you want a thicker, colder drink, add up to 4 ice cubes. Do not overfill—leave room for blending.

5

Blend until smooth

Blend on high for 30–60 seconds, stopping to scrape the sides once, until the mixture is completely smooth and velvety. If the smoothie is too thick to blend, add 1 tablespoon more almond milk at a time until it moves freely. If it’s too thin, add another 1/4 cup frozen banana or a couple more ice cubes and re-blend.

Serve & Garnish

6

Taste and adjust sweetness: add an extra 1/2 teaspoon honey or maple syrup if desired and pulse to combine.

7

Pour the smoothie into a chilled glass (about 12–14 oz). Sprinkle the top with 1 teaspoon extra dried goji berries and 1 teaspoon cacao nibs or dark chocolate shavings for texture and presentation.

8

Serve immediately with a straw. If preparing ahead, store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours and stir/shake before serving; texture will thicken slightly.
