Directions
- 1
Prepare the Coffee
Brew a strong cup of coffee and allow it to cool.
- 2
Mix the Coffee Liqueur
If using, mix the brewed coffee with coffee liqueur in a shallow dish.
- 3
Dip the Ladyfingers
Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy. Arrange them in a single layer in a 9x13 inch dish.
- 4
Make the Mascarpone Mixture
In a mixing bowl, combine mascarpone cheese, heavy cream, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract. Using an electric mixer, beat on medium speed until the mixture is smooth and thick.
- 5
Layer the Tiramisu
Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the layer of soaked ladyfingers. Repeat the process by dipping another layer of ladyfingers in the coffee mixture and placing them over the mascarpone layer. Top with the remaining mascarpone mixture.
- 6
Chill the Tiramisu
Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight to allow the flavors to meld.
- 7
Serve
Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder and sprinkle dark chocolate shavings. Cut into squares and serve chilled.
