Churros

Method

Churros

1

Prepare the Dough

In a medium saucepan, combine water, butter, sugar, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Remove from heat and stir in flour until the mixture forms a ball. Let it cool for 10 minutes.

2

Add Eggs

Add eggs one at a time to the cooled dough, mixing well after each addition until fully incorporated.

3

Fry the Churros

Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat. Use a pastry bag fitted with a star tip to pipe the dough into the hot oil. Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes on each side.

4

Coat in Cinnamon Sugar

Remove churros from oil and drain on paper towels. Roll in cinnamon sugar while still warm.

Flan

5

Make the Caramel

In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the granulated sugar until it turns into a golden brown caramel. Quickly pour it into a round flan mold, tilting to coat the bottom evenly.

6

Blend Ingredients

In a blender, combine eggs, sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, and vanilla extract. Blend until smooth.

7

Bake the Flan

Pour the mixture over the caramel in the mold. Place the mold in a larger baking dish filled with water (water bath). Bake at 350°F (175°C) for approximately 50-60 minutes until set.

8

Cool and Serve

Allow the flan to cool, then refrigerate for a few hours before inverting onto a serving plate.

Tres Leches

9

Prepare the Cake Batter

In a bowl, combine flour and baking powder. In another bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla. Gradually add the flour mixture.

10

Bake the Cake

Pour the batter into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish and bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.

11

Prepare the Milk Mixture

In a bowl, whisk together whole milk, sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, and heavy cream.

12

Soak the Cake

Once the cake is baked and cooled, poke holes all over the top with a fork. Pour the milk mixture over the cake, allowing it to soak in.

13

Serve

Refrigerate the cake for a few hours before serving. Top with whipped cream if desired.
