Main Drink

1

Chill your bottle of Mexican Coca‑Cola ahead of time, ideally until about 38–45°F (3–7°C). A cold bottle keeps more carbonation and yields the crisp, bright profile associated with Mexican Coke.

2

Fill a highball or Collins glass with about 1 cup of clear, large ice cubes. Large cubes melt slower and maintain carbonation longer.

3

Roll the half lime on the counter with gentle pressure for 10–15 seconds to release juices, then cut into a wedge (reserve the other half for another use). Squeeze the wedge lightly over the ice-filled glass to release about 1/2 tsp of fresh lime juice (optional but traditional for a slight bright note). Drop the squeezed wedge into the glass if desired.

4

Open the chilled bottle of Mexican Coke carefully to preserve carbonation. Pour gently down the side of the glass (tilt glass to about 45°) until nearly full, leaving about 1/2 inch headspace for aroma and to avoid overflow. Pouring slowly preserves fizz.

5

Gently stir once with a long spoon or stirrer to combine the lime juice with the soda without knocking out too much carbonation.

6

Taste and adjust: if you prefer a slightly sweeter or rounder finish, add 1 tsp agave syrup and stir gently to incorporate. For an adult variation (Cuba Libre), add 1 oz premium rum before pouring the Coke and stir gently.

7

Garnish the glass with a fresh lime wedge on the rim and serve immediately while fizzy and cold.

Optional Garnish & Variations

8

Salt-Rimmed Version

Rub a lime wedge around the rim of the glass, dip the rim into 1 tsp sea salt spread on a small plate, then proceed with filling the glass with ice and preparing the drink as above. Salt enhances contrast but use sparingly.

9

Cuba Libre (Rum & Coke with Lime)

Add 1 oz premium light or aged rum to the glass over ice, squeeze and drop in fresh lime, then pour chilled Mexican Coke down the side and stir gently. Garnish with a lime wedge.
