Ingredients for Southern Pork Ribs
Method
Directions for Preparing Southern Pork Ribs
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
Prepare the Ribs
Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs for better flavor and tenderness.
Make the Dry Rub
In a bowl, mix together the brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, salt, and cayenne pepper.
Season the Ribs
Rub the spice mixture generously over both sides of the ribs.
Wrap and Cook
Wrap the seasoned ribs tightly in aluminum foil and place them on a baking sheet. Bake for 2.5 to 3 hours.
Glaze the Ribs
After baking, remove the ribs from the oven, unwrap them, and brush both sides with barbecue sauce.
Finish Cooking
Return the ribs to the oven (uncovered) and bake for an additional 30 minutes, or until the sauce is caramelized.
Serve
Remove from the oven, let rest for a few minutes, then cut into portions and serve with your choice of sides and cornbread.
