Cocktail

Method

Cocktail

1

Chill a coupe or Nick & Nora glass by placing it in the freezer or filling with ice water while you prepare the cocktail.

2

Add 2 oz Aviation gin, 0.75 oz fresh lemon juice, 0.5 oz maraschino liqueur, 0.25 oz crème de violette, and 0.125 oz simple syrup (optional) into a cocktail shaker.

3

Add ice and dry shake (optional)

Add plenty of ice to the shaker (about 6 oz worth). If you prefer slightly more dilution and a colder, silkier texture, seal and 'dry shake' (shake without ice) for 5–8 seconds then add ice and proceed; otherwise add ice and go straight to the next step.

4

Shake

Shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until the shaker is well chilled (exterior becomes frosty) and the mixture is slightly diluted.

5

Double strain & serve

Discard ice/water from the chilled glass. Double-strain the cocktail through a Hawthorne strainer and a fine mesh strainer into the chilled coupe or Nick & Nora to remove small ice chips and any pulp.

6

Garnish

Garnish with one Luxardo or brandied cherry dropped into the center of the glass. Optionally express a lemon twist over the top for additional aromatic oils and discard or rest it alongside the cherry.

Cleanup & Notes

7

Rinse the shaker and strainers promptly to prevent sticky residue from the maraschino and crème de violette. Taste and adjust proportions on subsequent batches: more maraschino for nuttier cherry notes, more crème de violette for a pronounced floral violet color and aroma, or a touch more simple syrup if the cocktail is too tart.
