Method

Prepare Glass

1

Fill Glass

Fill a highball or Collins glass about three-quarters full with ice (approximately 1 cup).

2

If desired, chill the glass beforehand for a frosty presentation.

Mix Drink

3

Add Grenadine

Pour 1.5 tablespoons grenadine directly over the ice into the prepared glass. This will settle near the bottom and give the drink its characteristic color.

4

Add Lemon Juice

Add 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice to brighten the flavor and balance the sweetness.

5

Add Soda

Pour 6 oz ginger ale into the glass, then top with 2 oz lemon-lime soda. Pour gently to preserve carbonation and to allow some layering of color.

6

Stir

Give the drink a gentle stir with a bar spoon or straw about 3–4 times to incorporate the grenadine and lemon juice without completely eliminating all effervescence.

Garnish & Serve

7

Thread a maraschino cherry on a cocktail pick and place it on top of or inside the drink. Add a lemon wheel or lime wedge on the rim if using.

8

Serve immediately with a straw. Encourage the drinker to stir if they prefer an even color and sweetness throughout.
