Cake Preparation
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Combine Mixtures
Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Gradually stir in boiling water until smooth.
Bake the Cake
Divide the batter equally between the prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Cool the Cake
Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then turn them out onto wire racks to cool completely.
Frosting Preparation
Cool the Frosting
Remove from heat and let the frosting cool to room temperature.
Assemble the Cake
Once the cakes are completely cooled, spread the frosting generously between the layers and on top of the cake. Decorate with chocolate sprinkles.
