Method
Prepare Coffee Base
Measure and chill
Ensure Legacy Coffee premium cold brew is well chilled. Pull a fresh espresso shot (1 oz) or prepare a concentrated espresso substitute (1 oz strong brewed coffee) and let it rest 10–20 seconds so it blends smoothly with cold brew.
Add 6 oz chilled cold brew and 1 oz espresso concentrate into a mixing glass. Stir gently to combine; this creates a balanced coffee base with body from the cold brew and brightness from the espresso.
Add Spirits & Chocolate
Add 0.5 oz Sheringham akvavit to the mixing glass. The akvavit brings herbal, caraway/anise notes that should be bright but not overpowering.
Add 0.5 oz Sheringham chocolate liqueur for a rich, mellow chocolate sweetness that complements the coffee and akvavit.
Sweeten & Balance
Add 0.5 oz vanilla syrup to introduce sweet, warm vanilla notes that round out the herbal edge. If you prefer slightly sweeter, add the optional 0.25 oz simple syrup — taste and adjust.
Add 2 dashes Café Maderas bitters. The bitters will add complexity and help bind the coffee, chocolate, and akvavit flavors.
Mix & Chill
Fill the mixing glass with large ice cubes, then stir vigorously for 20–30 seconds to properly chill and lightly dilute the drink. Aim for a silky texture and integrated flavors.
Strain the mixture into a rocks glass over a single large ice cube or into a chilled coupe if you prefer served without ice.
Garnish & Serve
Express an orange peel over the drink to release oils, wipe the rim with the peel and drop it in as garnish. Optionally add one additional dash of Café Maderas bitters on top of the foam or surface for aroma.
Serve immediately. Recommend tasting and noting if future adjustments are desired: +0.25 oz vanilla syrup for more sweetness, or -0.25 oz akvavit if the herbal note is too assertive.
