Single-glass pour

Method

Single-glass pour

1

Chill and prepare glass

If you prefer a slightly cooler serve, place the whiskey glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes or fill it with ice water while you prepare. Discard the ice water before building the pour. This step is optional; Glenfiddich 12 is often enjoyed at a cool room temperature.

2

Add ice

Place a large ice cube or 2–3 large cubes into the prepared whiskey glass. Using a large cube reduces dilution and keeps the whisky colder longer.

3

Measure and pour whisky

Measure 2 oz (60 ml) Glenfiddich 12 Year and pour it gently over the ice in the glass.

4

Optional water adjustment

If you want to open the whisky's aromas and flavors, add 1 teaspoon (or a few drops) of chilled water to the glass using a dropper or spoon. Taste after each small addition until the profile suits you.

5

Rest and smell

Allow the whisky to rest for 30–60 seconds to let the aromas develop. Bring the glass to your nose and take a few gentle sniffs, then taste.

6

Enjoy: Sip slowly, letting the whisky coat your palate. Note the hallmark Glenfiddich 12 characteristics: fresh pear and orchard fruit, subtle oak, and a honeyed finish.

Optional tasting accompaniments

7

Serve tasting notes on a small card and provide a water dropper or jug so guests can experiment with small additions of water. Pair with mild cheddar, sliced apple or pear, or a piece of dark chocolate to complement the whisky's fruit and honey notes.
