1

Chill glass

Place a martini (coupe) glass in the freezer or fill it with ice water to chill while you prepare the cocktail.

2

Brew espresso

Brew a fresh shot of espresso (about 1 oz). Allow it to cool slightly for 30–60 seconds so it is hot but not boiling; this helps preserve crema when shaken.

3

Combine ingredients

In a cocktail shaker, add fresh ice, 2 oz Absolut Vodka, 1 oz Kahlúa, 1 oz slightly cooled espresso, and 0.25 oz simple syrup if you prefer a touch of sweetness.

4

Dry shake (optional for better foam)

If you want a richer crema, first shake the ingredients without ice for 8–10 seconds to emulsify the espresso and liqueur.

5

Wet shake

Add ice to the shaker (if you didn't already) and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker becomes frosty and you feel it is well-chilled.

6

Strain

Empty the ice or water from the chilled glass. Double-strain the cocktail into the chilled martini/coupe glass using a Hawthorne strainer and a fine mesh strainer to capture small ice shards and create a smooth surface.

7

Garnish and serve

Gently float three coffee beans on top of the crema as garnish. Serve immediately.
