Method
Cocktail
Combine ingredients
Add Empress gin (2 oz), Grand Marnier (1/2 oz), St. Germain (1/2 oz), sweet & sour mix (1 oz), and fresh lime juice (1/2 oz) into a cocktail shaker.
Add ice and shake
Fill the shaker with ice (about 1 cup), secure the lid, and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the shaker is well-chilled and slightly frosted on the outside.
Prepare serving glass
Dump the ice water from the chilled coupe or remove the glass from the freezer. If serving on the rocks, add 3 ice cubes to a rocks glass instead.
Double strain and serve
Double-strain the cocktail into the chilled coupe (or into the rocks glass over ice) using a Hawthorne strainer and a fine mesh strainer to ensure a silky texture and to catch any small ice shards or pulp.
Garnish
Express the oils of a lemon twist over the surface of the drink, then run the twist around the rim and drop it into the cocktail, or float a dehydrated citrus wheel on top.
Serve immediately. The drink should present a delicate floral note from the St. Germain, bright citrus from the Grand Marnier and lime, and the distinctive indigo hue from the Empress gin will give the cocktail an elegant, color-changing quality if citrus is present in the sour mix.
