Prepare optional sugar
If you want a slightly brighter, sweeter Sprite-like profile, dissolve the optional fine cane sugar in 1 tablespoon cold water: stir vigorously in a small bowl until fully dissolved. This step is optional if you prefer using only simple syrup.
Mix citrus and sweetener
In a pitcher, combine the fresh lemon juice (2 tbsp), fresh lime juice (2 tbsp), the 3 tablespoons of simple syrup, and the dissolved fine cane sugar (if used). Stir until homogeneous.
Add carbonated water
Slowly pour 4 cups of very cold carbonated water (club soda or seltzer) into the pitcher. Pour down the side or over the back of a spoon to preserve carbonation. Gently stir once or twice to incorporate — avoid vigorous stirring to keep fizz.
Serve
Fill two glasses with ice (about 1/2 cup ice per glass). Divide the prepared Sprite evenly between the glasses. Garnish each glass with a lemon slice and a lime slice. Taste and adjust: add up to 1 tablespoon more simple syrup if you prefer sweeter, or an extra 1 teaspoon lemon or lime juice for brighter acidity.
Storage
For best fizz, consume immediately. If you must store, transfer to a sealed bottle and keep refrigerated; use within 24 hours to retain carbonation and freshness.
