BBQ Ranch Sauce

Garnish & Serving (optional)

Method

BBQ Ranch Sauce

1

Combine base

In a medium bowl, whisk together 1 cup mayonnaise, 1/2 cup buttermilk, and 1/4 cup sour cream until smooth and homogenous.

2

Add barbecue flavor

Stir in 1/2 cup prepared barbecue sauce and 1 teaspoon honey until fully incorporated. The sauce should become slightly thinner and have a balanced sweet-smoky color.

3

Add herbs and seasonings

Fold in 2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh parsley and 1 tablespoon thinly sliced fresh chives. Sprinkle in 1/2 teaspoon dried dill, 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder, 1/2 teaspoon onion powder, and 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika. Mix thoroughly so the dried spices rehydrate slightly.

4

Acidity and heat adjustment

Add 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar, 3/4 teaspoon kosher salt, 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper, and 1/2 teaspoon hot sauce if using. Whisk well and taste. Adjust salt, vinegar, or hot sauce in small increments to reach desired tang and heat.

5

Texture adjustment

If the dressing is too thick for dipping, whisk in up to 1–2 tablespoons additional buttermilk (15–30 ml) at a time until you reach the desired consistency for dipping or drizzling.

6

Chill

Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes (preferably 1–2 hours) to let the flavors meld and the dried herbs soften. Stir again before serving.

Garnish & Serving

7

Transfer the BBQ Ranch to a serving bowl. Garnish with the extra 1 tablespoon chopped chives or parsley. Serve with lemon wedges on the side to squeeze if brighter acidity is desired.

8

Use as a dipping sauce for chicken tenders, fries, or vegetables; as a spread for sandwiches and burgers; or as a drizzle over grain bowls and salads.
