Method

Pack Components

1

Prepare hot dogs

Bring a medium pot of water to a gentle simmer (do not boil vigorously). Add the 4 hot dogs and simmer for 5–6 minutes until heated through. Alternatively, grill over medium-high heat for 6–8 minutes, turning occasionally, until nicely charred. Remove and keep warm.

2

Toast buns

Heat a skillet over medium heat. Spread 2 tablespoons of butter or brush oil on the cut sides of the 4 buns. Place buns cut-side down in the skillet and toast 1–2 minutes until golden and slightly crisp. Remove from heat.

3

Assemble hot dogs

Place one hot dog into each toasted bun. Add 1 teaspoon mustard and 1 teaspoon ketchup to each hot dog. Top each with about 1 tablespoon (approx. 0.5 tbsp each dog) of diced onion and 1 teaspoon sweet pickle relish. If using optional shredded cheddar, sprinkle ~2 tablespoons over each hot dog immediately so it melts slightly from the hot sausage.

4

Optional toppings

If using sauerkraut, drain and warm briefly in a small saucepan or microwave for 30 seconds, then add to desired hot dogs. For a spicy option, top with jalapeño slices to taste.

Optional Add-ins & Sides

5

Fry or bake fries (oven method)

Preheat oven to 220°C (425°F). Spread frozen crinkle-cut fries on a baking sheet in a single layer, spray or toss lightly with oil, and bake 18–22 minutes, tossing once, until golden and crisp. Season with 1 teaspoon salt immediately after removing from oven.

6

Deep-fry method for fries

Heat 2 cups vegetable oil in a deep pot to 175°C (350°F). Carefully add fries in batches and fry 3–5 minutes until golden and crisp. Drain on paper towels and season with salt.

7

Serving

Divide the 4 completed hot dogs among plates. Serve hot with fries and any extra condiments on the side. Provide napkins — this 4-pack is best eaten immediately.
