Place the Pinot Grigio bottle in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving. If short on time, submerge the bottle in an ice bucket filled with ice and cold water for 20–30 minutes until well chilled (45–50°F / 7–10°C ideal).

Chill

Remove the bottle from the fridge or ice bucket. Wipe dry. Examine the cork or screwcap. If corked, carefully cut the foil, place a corkscrew centered on the cork and pull gently to avoid cork breakage. If screwcap, twist open. Wipe the bottle neck with a clean cloth after opening.

Inspect and open

For visual presentation or if the wine is slightly warm, gently pour the wine into a chilled small pitcher to aerate briefly (30–60 seconds). Pinot Grigio is typically best served without extended decanting; a short pour helps release aromas.

Optional decanting

Hold the glass by the stem. Pour about 4–5 ounces (120–150 ml) per glass, filling roughly one-third to one-half of the glass to allow aromas to concentrate. Avoid overfilling.

Pour

Invite guests to swirl gently, then smell to appreciate fruit and floral notes (pear, lemon, green apple, white flowers). Sip and note the crisp acidity and clean finish. If preferred, add a lemon or lime wedge on the glass rim or a sprig of fresh mint in the glass for a subtle aromatic accent.

Aroma and taste

Prepare ice bucket: Fill the ice bucket with ice and enough cold water to surround the bottle if rapid chilling is needed. Keep additional ice on hand for presentation if desired.

Prepare glasses: Ensure wine glasses are clean and chilled if possible. Place them on a tray or table ready for pouring.

Garnish: Cut lemon or lime into wedges and place on a small plate. Rinse and pat dry mint sprigs. Offer guests the option to use a wedge or mint sprig lightly to accent the wine; do not muddle or add strong flavors that would overpower the wine.

Storage of opened bottle: Reseal the bottle with its screwcap or a wine stopper and refrigerate. Consume within 3–5 days for best quality. Note that flavor will gradually soften as exposure to oxygen increases.
