Base

Method

Base

1

Combine dry ingredients

In a medium bowl or a mason jar (about 16 oz capacity), add 1 cup rolled oats, 1 tablespoon chia seeds and 1/8 teaspoon salt. Stir briefly to mix evenly.

2

Add wet ingredients

Pour in 1 cup milk and 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt. Add 1 tablespoon maple syrup (or honey) and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract. Stir thoroughly until oats are evenly moistened and chia seeds are distributed.

3

Adjust texture

If you prefer thinner oats, add 1–2 tablespoons extra milk and stir. If you prefer thicker overnight oats, reduce liquid by 1–2 tablespoons. Make sure mixture is consistent before adding fruit.

Fruit & Mix-ins

4

Incorporate mashed banana

Mash half a ripe banana with a fork until mostly smooth and fold into the oat mixture. This adds natural sweetness and creaminess.

5

Add berries and grated fruit

Fold in 3/4 cup mixed berries and 1/4 cup grated apple or pear (if using). If using frozen berries, add them straight from the freezer — they will thaw and flavor the oats as they soak.

6

Add nut butter and seeds

Stir in 1 teaspoon nut butter for flavor and 2 tablespoons toasted nuts or seeds for texture. Ensure mix-ins are evenly distributed so each serving gets some crunch.

Chilling & Serving

7

Refrigerate overnight

Cover the bowl or seal the jar with a lid and refrigerate for at least 6 hours or up to 24 hours. Overnight allows the oats and chia to absorb liquid and soften.

8

Stir and finish

In the morning, stir the oats once. If thickened too much, loosen with 1–2 tablespoons milk. Taste and adjust sweetness with an extra teaspoon of maple syrup if desired.

9

Add toppings and serve

Top with 1/4 cup extra berries or sliced fruit, 2 tablespoons granola for crunch, a sprinkle of 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon and an optional drizzle (1 teaspoon) of maple syrup. Serve chilled.
