Chill and fill

If desired, chill the glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes beforehand. Fill a highball or collins glass with about 1 cup of ice cubes (enough to come about three-quarters up the glass).

Open a 12 fl oz can or bottle of Coca‑Cola. Pour slowly over the ice, tilting the glass slightly to preserve carbonation and reduce foaming. Stop when filled to about 1⁄4 inch from the rim.

If using, squeeze the lemon or lime wedge lightly over the surface to release a few drops, then drop the wedge into the drink. Add an optional mint sprig or cocktail cherry as garnish. Serve immediately with a straw or long spoon.
