Cocktail
Optional (adjust to taste)
Method
Prepare Cocktail
Chill glass
If possible, chill a large wine glass or rocks glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes before preparing the drink to keep it cold longer.
Add ice
Fill the chilled glass generously with ice (about 1 cup or enough to come near the rim). The ice keeps the drink cold and helps maintain carbonation.
Pour Aperol
Measure and pour 2 oz Aperol over the ice. If you prefer a more bitter-forward spritz, add the optional extra 0.5 oz Aperol from the optional section.
Add Prosecco
Slowly pour 3 oz chilled Prosecco (or other dry sparkling wine) into the glass. Pour gently to preserve bubbles.
Top with soda
Add 1 oz chilled soda water to finish. Adjust soda between 0.5–1.5 oz to taste if you prefer more or less dilution.
Optional sweetness adjustment
If you prefer the cocktail slightly sweeter, stir in 1/4 tsp simple syrup and gently stir once to combine. This step is optional and not traditional.
Garnish and serve
Garnish with 1 fresh orange slice placed on the rim or floated in the drink. Serve immediately with a cocktail stirrer or straw.
