Cocktail

Optional Simple Cherry Syrup (to sweeten, if desired)

Method

Cocktail

  1. 1

    Prepare glass

Fill a 12- to 16-ounce mule mug or highball glass with ice cubes (about 1 cup).

  2. 2

    Build the drink

Pour 2 oz vodka and 3 oz Flathead cherry juice over the ice.

  3. 3

    Add lime

Add 0.5 oz fresh lime juice (about half a lime). If you prefer a sweeter mule, add 1–2 tbsp of the optional simple cherry syrup instead of or in addition to fresh lime juice.

  4. 4

    Top with ginger beer

Gently pour 4 oz chilled ginger beer into the glass. Stir once or twice gently with a bar spoon to integrate without flattening the ginger beer.

  5. 5

    Garnish and finish

Garnish with a lime wedge on the rim and 1–2 fresh cherries on a pick if available. Serve immediately with a straw.

Optional Simple Cherry Syrup

  1. 6

Combine 2 tbsp granulated sugar and 2 tbsp Flathead cherry juice in a small saucepan over low heat. Stir until the sugar dissolves (do not boil). Let cool before using. Makes about 1.5–2 tbsp syrup.
