Method

Preparation

1

Chill and clean

If desired, chill the tasting glasses in the refrigerator for 10–15 minutes or rinse and briefly run under cool filtered water, then dry. This keeps the pours at a moderate temperature and presents clean glassware.

2

Slice limes

Cut 2 limes into 12 thin wedges (about 6 wedges per lime). Arrange wedges on the serving tray so each tequila pour has a wedge or two nearby.

3

Salt dish

Pour the coarse flaky sea salt into a small dish and place it on the tray for guests to use sparingly.

Pouring the flight

4

Place the six 1.5-ounce tasting glasses on the tray in a line or semi-circle. Pour 1.5 ounces (45 ml) of each spirit into its own glass. Arrange them in the suggested order: Blanco, Joven, Reposado, Añejo, Extra Añejo, Mezcal — or any order that highlights lighter to richer flavors. Label or note the order for guests.

5

Leave a small space between each glass so guests can lift them easily without tipping neighboring pours.

Presentation & tasting instructions

6

Serve the tray with the salt dish and lime wedges. Explain the suggested tasting method: start with the lightest tequila (Blanco), observe aroma, take a small sip and let it coat the palate, then cleanse with a lime wedge if desired. Use salt only if the guest prefers; encourage tasting neat first to appreciate the spirit.

7

If offering water, provide a small glass of filtered water per guest to cleanse the palate between pours.

8

Advise guests to pace themselves — six 1.5-ounce pours equal 9 ounces (approximately 270 ml) total — and recommend sharing or spacing tastings over time.
