Poke Base

Method

Preparation of Tuna and Vegetables

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ahi Tuna

Using a sharp knife, cut the Ahi tuna into 1/2-inch cubes. Ensure the knife is wet to avoid the fish sticking to it.

  2. 2

    Slice the Cucumber

Peel the cucumber if desired, then slice it into thin rounds or half-moons, depending on your preference.

  3. 3

    Chop the Red Onion

Peel and finely chop the red onion. Rinse in cold water to reduce sharpness if desired.

Marinade Preparation

  1. 4

    Mix the Marinade

In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, honey, and red pepper flakes to taste until well combined.

  2. 5

Add Sesame Seeds and Green Onions

Stir in the sesame seeds and finely chopped green onions into the marinade mixture.

Combining Ingredients

  1. 6

    Combine Tuna with Marinade

In a medium bowl, combine the cubed Ahi tuna with the marinade. Toss gently to coat the tuna evenly.

  2. 7

    Assemble the Poke

In serving bowls, layer the marinated tuna, sliced cucumber, and chopped red onion. Drizzle any remaining marinade over the top.
