Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Brew the Espresso

Brew 240 ml of strong espresso coffee and allow it to cool to room temperature.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Cream Mixture

In a mixing bowl, combine 500 g of mascarpone cheese, 100 g of granulated sugar, 1 tsp of vanilla extract, and 60 ml of coffee liqueur (if using). Mix until smooth.

  3. 3

    Whip the Heavy Cream

In another bowl, whip 250 ml of heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully combined.

Assembly

  1. 4

    Dip the Ladyfingers

Quickly dip each ladyfinger cookie into the cooled espresso, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy. Arrange a layer of dipped ladyfingers in the bottom of a serving dish.

  2. 5

    Add the Cream Layer

Spread half of the mascarpone cream mixture evenly over the layer of ladyfingers.

  3. 6

    Repeat Layers

Repeat the process with another layer of dipped ladyfingers followed by the remaining mascarpone cream mixture.

Finishing Touch

  1. 7

Chill and Dust with Cocoa Powder

Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight. Just before serving, dust the top with 30 g of cocoa powder.
