Fried Chicken
Method
Preparation and Cooking
- 1
Marinate the Chicken
In a bowl, combine the buttermilk and chicken pieces. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight for best results.
- 2
Prepare the Coating
In a shallow dish, mix the flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
- 3
Coat the Chicken
Remove the chicken from the buttermilk, letting excess drip off. Dredge each piece in the flour mixture until fully coated. Shake off excess flour.
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a large skillet or deep fryer, heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 5
Fry the Chicken
Carefully add the chicken to the hot oil. Fry for about 12-15 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F or 74°C).
