Method

Cake Directions

1

Prepare the Oven and Pans

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

2

Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk until well combined.

3

Add Wet Ingredients

Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Beat on medium speed for about 2 minutes. Stir in the boiling water until well combined.

4

Bake the Cakes

Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

5

Prepare the Frosting

In a mixing bowl, beat the butter until creamy. Gradually add cocoa powder and powdered sugar, alternating with milk. Stir in vanilla extract until smooth.

6

Frost the Cakes

Once the cakes are completely cool, place one layer on a serving plate and spread frosting on top. Place the second layer on top and frost the top and sides of the cake.

7

Serve

Slice and serve the chocolate cake. Enjoy!
