Finishing & Serving
Method
Tea Base
- 1
Steep the tea
Bring 3 cups of water to a rolling boil. Remove from heat and add 4 black tea bags. Cover and steep for 6 minutes for strong flavor (5–7 minutes acceptable depending on taste).
- 2
After steeping, press the tea bags gently against the side of the pot with a spoon to extract extra flavor, then discard the tea bags.
Sweetening & Dilution
- 3
While the tea is still hot, add 6 tablespoons granulated sugar and stir until completely dissolved (about 1–2 minutes). This creates a sweet tea concentrate. Taste and add up to 1 tablespoon more sugar if you prefer sweeter tea.
- 4
Add 2 cups of cold water to the sweetened hot tea to both cool it down and bring the total volume toward 22 oz. Stir to combine.
