Smoothie Base
Garnish / Toppings (optional)
Method
Prepare Ingredients
Measure and thaw if needed
Measure 2 cups of frozen mixed berries. If your berries are rock-hard, let them sit at room temperature for 3–5 minutes to slightly loosen, which helps blending. Peel the banana and break it into chunks for easier blending.
If using chia seeds, lightly grind them (optional) so they integrate more smoothly into the smoothie.
Blend Smoothie
Layer ingredients in blender
Add to the blender in this order: 1 cup unsweetened almond milk, 1 tablespoon dairy-free yogurt, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice, 1 tablespoon maple syrup, the banana chunks, 2 cups frozen mixed berries, and 1 teaspoon ground chia seeds (if using). Adding liquid first helps the blades catch and blend evenly.
Blend until smooth
Secure the blender lid and blend on medium-high for 45–90 seconds, stopping once to scrape down the sides if needed. Blend until the mixture is uniformly smooth and creamy. If the smoothie is too thick, add up to 1/2 cup more dairy-free milk in 2-tablespoon increments and blend again. If too thin, add 2–4 ice cubes or a few more frozen berries and pulse until desired thickness.
Taste and adjust sweetness. Add an additional 1/2 tablespoon maple syrup if you prefer sweeter, then blend 5–10 seconds to incorporate.
Serve
Pour the smoothie into 2 chilled glasses (or 1 large).
Top each serving with a sprinkle of sliced almonds or granola, a few fresh whole berries, and a mint leaf if desired.
Serve immediately with a straw. Store any leftover smoothie in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours; shake or stir before drinking (texture may thicken).
