Method
Prepare Workstation
- 1
Gather & Prep
Gather all ingredients. Wash and dry lettuce leaves and vegetables. Thinly slice the tomato and cucumber (if using). If using avocado, slice just before assembling to prevent browning.
Make Spread
- 2
In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise (4 tsp) and Dijon mustard (2 tsp). Stir until smooth. Season with salt (1/4 tsp) and black pepper (1/8 tsp). Taste and adjust seasoning if desired.
Assemble Wraps
- 3
Lay Tortilla
Place one large flour tortilla flat on a clean work surface.
- 4
Spread
Using a spoon or small spatula, spread approximately 1 tablespoon (equal to about 1 tsp mayonnaise + some mustard mixture) of the prepared spread evenly over the center of the tortilla, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges.
- 5
Layer Ingredients
Place one leaf of lettuce on the spread. Top with two slices of ham, about 1/4 cup cheddar cheese (or a couple of slices), then 2-3 thin tomato slices and a few cucumber slices if using. Add optional avocado slices or pickles and a few drops of hot sauce or a sprinkle of red pepper flakes if desired.
- 6
Season
Lightly sprinkle a small pinch of salt and a grind of pepper over the tomato and cucumber to enhance flavor.
- 7
Fold & Roll
Fold the bottom edge up over the filling, then fold the left and right sides inward and roll tightly away from you to form a compact wrap. Ensure seam side is down to keep it closed.
- 8
Repeat
Repeat the layering and rolling process for the remaining tortillas to make a total of 4 wraps.
Finish & Serve
- 9
If serving immediately, slice each wrap in half on the diagonal. For transport or to keep warm, wrap each in parchment or foil. Serve with chips, a salad, or fresh fruit. Refrigerate any leftover wraps in an airtight container for up to 24 hours (best eaten same day).
