Method
Tea Base
Steep the tea
Place 4 black tea bags (or equivalent loose tea in an infuser) into a heatproof pitcher. Pour the boiling water over the tea. Let steep for 4–5 minutes for a balanced-strength unsweet iced tea (steep up to 6 minutes for stronger flavor; avoid longer to prevent excessive bitterness).
Remove tea bags
After steeping, remove and discard the tea bags or strain out loose leaves to stop extraction.
Cooling & Serving
Cool to room temperature
Allow the brewed tea to cool at room temperature for 15–20 minutes to avoid melting too much ice and diluting the final drink.
Dilute and chill
Add 1 liter cold water to the cooled concentrate in the pitcher and stir to combine. Taste and adjust: if too strong, add additional cold water as desired.
Refrigerate
Place the pitcher in the refrigerator and chill for at least 30 minutes, or until cold.
