Cheese & Add-ins

Method

Cheese & Add-ins

  1. 1

    Prepare cheeses

Place the softened cream cheese in a medium mixing bowl. Using a fork or small whisk, beat the cream cheese until smooth and slightly fluffy to make it easy to combine.

  2. 2

Add the sour cream and mayonnaise to the bowl and mix until fully incorporated and the texture is creamy.

  3. 3

Stir in the minced garlic, lemon zest, chopped chives, and chopped parsley until evenly distributed.

  4. 4

Fold in 1 cup crumbled Bayley Hazen Blue gently, reserving about 2 tablespoons for garnish. Mix just until the blue cheese is evenly distributed; leave some small chunks for texture.

  5. 5

Season the mixture with black pepper and 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed — Bayley Hazen is flavorful, so add additional salt sparingly.

  6. 6

If you prefer a smoother, spreadable consistency, use an electric hand mixer on low for 10–15 seconds, then stop to avoid over-whipping.

Chill & Serve

  1. 7

Transfer the cheese mixture to a small serving bowl or mold. Smooth the top with a spatula and sprinkle the reserved 2 tablespoons of Bayley Hazen crumbles over the top as a garnish.

  2. 8

Cover with plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld. For best flavor, chill 2 hours.

  3. 9

Shortly before serving, arrange toasted baguette slices or crackers and celery sticks and apple slices on a platter. Remove the bowl from the refrigerator and bring to cool-chilled temperature (about 5 minutes at room temperature) so the spread is easy to scoop.

  4. 10

Serve the Bayley Hazen spread with the prepared accompaniments. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
