Baking Instructions
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, granulated sugar, baking soda, and salt.
Combine Wet Ingredients
In another bowl, mix the unsweetened applesauce, vanilla extract, and water until well combined.
Combine Mixtures
Gradually pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. Do not over-mix.
Fold in Pistachios
Gently fold the chopped pistachios into the batter.
Bake
Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Cool and Serve
Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely before serving.
